LINE Bank (full Name: LINE Bank Taiwan) Is One Of The Pure Online Banks In Taiwan. Its Main Shareholder Is Japanese LY Corporation, Which Holds Nearly Half Of The Shares. The Other Co-investors Also Include Taipei Fubon Commercial Bank, CTBC Bank, Union Bank Of Taiwan, Standard Chartered Bank (Taiwan) Limited, Taiwan Mobile, And Far EasTone Telecommunications.
Development History
In 2018, LINE Taiwan Limited Established The "LINE Financial Taiwan Preparatory Office" And Jointly Formed An Online Bank With Domestic Financial And Telecommunications Operators. The Preparatory Office Obtained The License To Establish A Pure Online Bank From The Financial Supervisory Commission In 2019.
In 2020, "LINE Bank Taiwan Limited" Was Established. On February 4, 2021, LINE Bank Taiwan Obtained The Business License Of Pure Online Bank Issued By The Financial Supervisory Commission, And Began To Operate Externally On April 22. Initially, It Provided Financial Services For Deposits, Transfers, Debit Cards, And Personal Credit Loans.
In April 2022, LINE Bank Taiwan Accumulated Losses Reached NT $2.274 Billion. In June, LINE Bank Taiwan Reduced Its Capital By NT $2.50 Billion And Increased Its Capital By NT $7.50 Billion; Among Them, Taipei Fubon Commercial Bank Increased Its Capital By 2.195 Billion Yuan And Its Shareholding Ratio Increased From 25.1% To 27.18%. At The Same Time, It Introduced New Shareholders Fubon Multimedia Technology, While CTBC Bank And Far EasTone Telecommunications Among The Original Shareholders Did Not Participate In The Capital Increase.
