Bank Negara Indonesia ("Bank Negara Indonesia", Formerly Known As "Bank Negara Indonesia 1946", "Bank Negara Indonesia 1946") Is An Indonesian State-owned Bank. History

Early Years

The National Bank Of Indonesia Was Established On July 5, 1946 As Both A Central Bank And A Commercial Bank. Margono Djojohadikusumo Was Appointed As A Director And Abdul Karim Was Appointed As Secretary. It Was Ready To Become The Central Bank Of Indonesia, Responsible For Issuing And Processing Indonesian Currency. A Few Months After Its Establishment, The National Bank Of Indonesia Officially Issued The First Official Currency Of Indonesia - ORI Or Oeang Republik Indonesia.

After Bank Of Java Was Appointed As The Central Bank Of Indonesia, The Role Of Bank Negara Indonesia Was Transformed Into A Development Bank, Which Was Later Granted The Right To Act As A Foreign Exchange Bank. The Increase In Capital In 1955, The Legal Status Of Bank Negara Indonesia Was Transformed Into A Commercial Bank Under The Judicial Distribution Of Emergency Law No. 2 Of 1955. Also In 1955, Bank Negara Indonesia Officially Opened Its First Foreign Branch In Singapore.

In 1965, It Became A Single-tier Bank (even Bank Negara Indonesia Was Absorbed); BNI Was The Bank That Issued The First Foreign Banking Licenses During The Transition To The New Order, Shortly Before Bank Negara Indonesia Was Re-established In The Same Year.

Determined To Create A New Image And Attitude In Line With Its Desire To Play A More International Role And Meet The Challenges Of Globalization In 1946, Bank Negara Indonesia Changed Its Corporate Logo To "Galleon" And Introduced The Nickname "BNI Bank".

Law No. 7 Of 1992 Provides An Opportunity For State-owned Banks To Transform Their Legal Status Into A Limited State-owned Company (or Persero). With This Change In Legal Status, The Name Of The Bank Was Officially Replaced With "PT. Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) ".

In 1996, Bank Negara Indonesia Decided To Become A Listed Company With Its Shares Subject To An Initial Public Offering (IPO) Through The Stock Exchange. [10] Bank Negara Indonesia Was The First Government Bank In Indonesia To Be Listed On The Jakarta Stock Exchange (now The Indonesia Stock Exchange) And The Surabaya Stock Exchange. The Company Name Was Changed To "PT. Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk" To Show Its Status As A Listed Company.
