COTA Bank Is A Small Commercial Bank Headquartered In Taichung City, Taiwan, Formerly Known As The "Taichung Third Credit Union".
It Currently Has 32 Branches In Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu City, Taichung City, Changhua County, Tainan City, And Kaohsiung City. As Of March 2021, Its Number Of Employees Was 1,143.
History
COTA Bank Taichung Branch
COTA Bank Was Formerly Known As The "Limited Liability Taichung Credit Portfolio" Established In 1915. It Is Located At 613 Taichung Street. It Was Originally Established To Serve The Japanese In Taiwan During The Japanese Occupation Of Taiwan. After Purchasing The Land At The Current Head Office Location In 1924, It Moved To The Current Location In 1938. After 1934, The Taiwanese People Began To Participate, But At That Time It Still Accounted For Only About 7% Of All Members.
In 1945, Taiwan Entered The Post-war Period Of Taiwan And Was Ruled By The Republic Of China. Therefore, It Was Reorganized Into The "Taichung City Third Credit Union With Limited Liability" In 1946. At The Same Time, Due To The Japanese In Taiwan Being Sent Back To Japan One After Another, The Shares Held By The Japanese Members Were Cleared In 1948. In 1963, It Was Renamed "Taichung City Third Credit Union With Guaranteed Responsibility".
In 1995, It Was The Most Profitable Credit Cooperation In Taiwan At That Time. After The Ministry Of Finance Promulgated The "Standards And Measures For Changing The Organization Of Credit Unions Into Commercial Banks", It Began To Plan The Restructuring, And Completed The Restructuring As "COTA Bank" On January 1, 1999.
In 2006, It Merged With "Fengyuan Credit Union" For NT $340 Million.
In 2015, The State Paper Financial Holdings Publicly Acquired The Equity Of COTA Bank And Launched A Hostile Merger And Acquisition Of COTA Bank, But Ultimately Failed
