EBT Is A Large Banking Institution Providing Commercial Banking Services To Individuals, Small And Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) And Large Corporate Clients. As Of December 2021, According To The Annual Report Published On The Bank's Website, The Total Asset Value Of The Bank Is 1.372 Trillion Shillings (US $590.30 Million), Assuming An Exchange Rate Of 2,322/45 Per US Dollar, And Shareholders' Equity Is 170.843 Billion Shillings (US $73.6 Million).
As Of April 2014, The Export-Import Bank Group Is The Fifth Largest Commercial Banking Group In The Country In Terms Of Assets. As Of June 2016, The Total Assets Of The Bank Have Grown To 1.50 Trillion Saudi Shillings (approx. 700.80 Million USD). In November 2019, After The Export-Import Bank (Tanzania) Acquired The Business And Assets Of United Bank Of Tanzania Limited, Its Assets Increased To 732.40 Million USD
History
With The Liberalization Of The Tanzanian Economy, EBT Was Established In 1997 By A Group Of Tanzanian Businesspeople. It Reportedly Broke Even In Its First Five Months Of Operation. As Of November 2019, EBT Had Wholly Owned Banking Subsidiaries In Comoros, Djibouti And Uganda. As Of March 2016, It Was The First Tanzanian Homegrown Bank To Have Subsidiaries Abroad. In April 2010, The Bank Received Authorization From The Bank Of Tanzania To Establish Subsidiaries In Djibouti And Zambia, Thus Establishing The Export-Import Bank (East Africa) Group, A Regional Banking Financial Services Organization. In March 2016, EBT Acquired A 58.6% Stake In Imperial Bank (Uganda) Limited And Changed Its Name To Export-Import Bank (Uganda) Limited. In November 2019, The Export-Import Bank Of Tanzania Acquired The Operations And Assets Of United Bank Of Pakistan United Bank Limited, A Subsidiary Of United Bank Of Pakistan Limited. In July 2022, The Export-Import Bank Of Tanzania Acquired The First National Bank Of Tanzania, Bringing The Total Assets Of The Group To Tach 2.40 Trillion (US $1.033 Billion).
