Poštová banka Enterprise Introduction

Basic information

about

Poštová bankaBoštová banka, a.s. is headquartered in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, and was founded in 1993. The bank was formerly a subsidiary of the Czech J&T Financial Group, and its main shareholders are Slovak private entrepreneurs (about 45% each) and Chinese investment institutions (about 10%). In 2021, Bank of Bostova became a branch of the 365.bank group and operated under the unified brand of 365.bank. In 2025, 365.bank Group (including Bank of Bosztoa) was acquired by the Belgian group KBC Bank Group (the transaction is subject to regulatory approval). The bank mainly serves the Slovak market, with a nationwide presence and no global distribution. Currently, Bank of Bosztova has about 61 physical branches and 185 automated teller machines (ATMs) in Slovakia. In addition, through its long-term partnership with the Slovak Post, Bosztovia Bank has more than 1,300 service points (including its dedicated tellers and sales staff) at its post office outlets.

Regulation &

ComplianceBosztova Bank is regulated by the Slovak National Bank (Národná banka Slovenska, NBS). Its operations must comply with EU banking regulations, including capital adequacy ratio, liquidity requirements, etc. Depositors' deposits are protected by the Slovak Deposit Protection Fund (Fond ochrany vkladov), which is protected up to a maximum of €100,000 per depositor. So far, no major violations have been disclosed by the Bank itself, but its affiliates have been penalized by anti-money laundering regulators. For example, 365.bank was fined €2 million by the Slovak Financial Intelligence Unit for a number of suspicious transactions, highlighting the need for the group to strengthen compliance and risk controls.

Financial healthAccording

to the latest financial report, the capital adequacy ratio of the 365.bank group, which belongs to Bank of Bostova, is sufficient. As of the end of 2023, the core Tier 1 capital adequacy ratio was approximately 22.6%, far exceeding regulatory requirements (approximately 10.35%). The bank's capital quality is good, and although the Tier 1 capital adequacy ratio has declined year-on-year (about 23.97% to 22.56% in 2022), it remains stable. Indicators such as the Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR) remain above regulatory requirements, indicating sufficient short-term solvency. Although there is limited data on the non-performing loan ratio (NPL) of Bank of Bosztova in publicly available sources, the overall NPL ratio of the Slovak retail banking sector is generally low (mostly in the single digits) and the bank's asset quality is expected to be stable. Overall, Bank of Bostova has strong capital strength and a solid loan portfolio focused on retail and small and medium-sized enterprises.

Products & ServicesBank

of Bosztova offers a full suite of traditional banking products for individuals and small businesses:

  • deposit products: This includes a free current settlement account (e.g. "Užitočný účet #BezPoplatku"), as well as a variety of fixed deposits. The basic savings account can be accessed at any time with a very low interest rate per annum (e.g. the "Dobré sporenie – Rezerva" savings account has an interest rate of only about 0.05% per annum). Fixed deposit products (Termínovaný vklad) usually offer higher interest rates than demand deposits, up to a maximum of 2.50% (e.g. preferential interest rates). The bank also offers special savings accounts for teenagers and seniors, such as Junior Account and Senior Account, to meet the needs of different customer groups.

  • Loan products: Bank of Bostova offers a wide range of consumer loans and mortgage loans. Individual "Dobrá pôžička" (loan sharks) can be borrowed from 300 to 40,000 euros, with an annual interest rate of 10% to 20%, depending on the customer's qualifications and market pricing. For the special promotion period, the "0% interest loan" product has also been launched. In terms of housing mortgages, the bank has terminated the issuance of new housing loans since July 2021, and the existing housing loans have been gradually handled by 365.bank, and the current housing loan interest rate of 365.bank in the market is about 3.95% or more (for reference only). Other loan services, such as vehicle loans and personal lines of credit, are also priced according to market standards, with flexible repayment options to enhance repayment convenience.

  • Other services: The bank also provides services such as bank cards, payment and settlement, investment and wealth management (through its 365.invest), insurance agency and other services. Bank of Bostova also develops and promotes special financial products such as ECO Loans to support sustainable development projects.

Fee structureThe

fee structure of the Bank of Bostova's account is relatively transparent: the monthly management fee (#BezPoplatku账户即承诺无账户维护费) is usually waived for basic personal accounts. There are no additional fees for account opening, account management, and regular transfers according to the rate schedule. Cash deposits (deposits) are free of charge, but cash withdrawals (withdrawals) are charged around €8 per transaction at the outlet. ATM withdrawal fees vary depending on the partner network, but are usually free of charge when using your own or designated ATMs, while non-partner ATMs may charge a fee. Interbank domestic transfers and Eurozone SEPA transfers generally cost €0.50–1, while international wire transfers are more expensive (tens of euros), depending on the bank's published Price List. There is no minimum balance requirement or overdraft fee unless the overdraft service is applied separately, and there is no hidden minimum balance limit for the standard account itself.

Digital Service

ExperienceBosztova Bank excels in digitalization. Its mobile banking app and online banking platform are fully functional: support for facial recognition/fingerprint login, which improves convenience and security. Users can view account balances and transaction records in real time through the mobile app, and perform real-time transfers, QR code payment (including instant SEPA transfer and local quick payment), water, electricity and gas payment, etc. In addition, digital banking integrates budget management and e-bill management features to help customers better plan their finances. The parent company, 365.bank, is known for its digitalization, with more than 830,000 mobile users, and has won accolades such as "Best Digital Bank in Slovakia" (Euromoney). Bank of Bostova is also promoting open banking API services to connect with third-party platforms. In terms of customer service, the bank's official website advertises that it has provided online customer service and robot Q&A, and although users have mixed reviews of the app (about 2.0 on the App Store), in general, the digital channel can meet most of the usual needs.

Quality of customer

serviceBosztova Bank provides customers with multi-channel service support: including telephone customer service (phone *6500), online live chat and email, etc., as well as official social media accounts. Bank employees in branches are also actively engaged in providing face-to-face consultations. According to user feedback, the service attitude of offline outlets is generally friendly, but due to the recent merger and system upgrade, individual complaints reflect that the queuing and response speed need to be improved. The bank launched the "Nenaleťme" anti-fraud project, with a special focus on financial education for the elderly, demonstrating its commitment to community services. The bank provides services in Slovak and some in English, but multilingual support is limited. Overall, customer satisfaction is on the medium to-high level, and a complaint handling mechanism has been set up but needs to be further improved.

Security Measures

: Bank of Bosztova uses multiple layers of protection in terms of security system. First of all, all depositors' deposits are protected by the State Deposit Insurance Fund (up to 100,000 euros). E-banking services use regular security measures such as encrypted logins, two-factor authentication, etc. The bank has also deployed an anti-fraud and anti-money laundering monitoring system to monitor and warn of unusual transactions. The bank's failure to publicly disclose the data breach shows that no serious security incidents have been exposed so far. Information security certifications such as ISO 27001 have not been publicly reported, but the parent company, 365.bank, has emphasized cybersecurity compliance in its internal operations. Overall, Bank of Bostova is committed to the security of customer funds and data.
